Every time I try to retire this dog I enter her in a Rally competition and she blows me away with how well she still works and is willing to please. I told myself she was retired in 2015 after her AKC BN. Here we are in 2017 still showing in Rally at 10 years old.
2017 High Five Canine Club
On Sunday Rhumba did me very proud and earned 2 legs toward her RO3 with scores of 91 and 97.
Rhumba earned her URO2 title on Saturday with scores of 89 and 92. Placing 4th and 3rd. Very proud of our "retired" girl!! Ten years of age and she still loves to please.
2016 High Five Canine Club
Rhumba earned her UKC Rally Obedience 1 (scores 95, 96 & 96) title and one let toward her URO2. Along with her one URO2 leg she also earned a 2nd place with a score of 98.
Rhumba earned her Beginner Novice title in three straight shows with scores of 200, 192 & 193. She placed first each show and was also awarded Highest Scoring Dog in Beginner Novice in all three shows.
I first met Rhumba at just three days old and was instantly in love with her. She has the most amazing temperament and loves everyone she meets. She is a Labrador in every way. True testament to the reason I fell in love with this breed. Temperament. Temperament. Temperament. Nothing bothers this dog.
I once again have to thank good friend Jeanine Asch of Endeavor Labradors for this super sweet girl. Roo, as she is called around here, is the second Lab from Jeanine. Lily was our first and she can be viewed on our memorial page. Not only is Jeanine a great friend she is a breeder I trust without hesitation.
In 2015 she retired from participating in the Therapy Dogs International Tail Waggin' Tudor program at the Petoskey District Library after moving from the area.
In December of 2013 our Rhumba-Roo starred as Sandy in the musical Annie at our local theatre. She spent a month in rehearsals and did an outstanding job for all of her scenes for 7 nights of shows.
After night after night of practice she began to understand the musical cues that preceded her parts and she would get restless and whine. I found this very entertaining. We both enjoyed the experience.
She enjoyed the children more than anything.
